A Dare Worth Taking
Sometimes there’s no escaping Destiny…
When Miami Thunder star receiver Jax Elliot fell in love with Destiny Duncan, it felt right. He didn’t care that she was a trainer from the Thunder’s biggest rivals. Didn’t care about this boss or hers, didn’t care what the fans or the media thought. Destiny was the best thing to ever happen to him—until he started dropping the ball. Literally. And he was forced to make a choice. The woman he loved. Or the game he loved.
He chose poorly.
Months later, in need of a trainer he can trust, Jax turns to the woman he still wants above all others. Things quickly turn physical—the sex between them more explosive than ever—and the physical quickly becomes emotional. One thing hasn’t changed: Jax and Des are still deeply in love. But something else remains the same as well. He still can’t catch a damn ball with Destiny in his head.
It’ll take a Dare—or three—to help Jax understand it’s not about catching every ball…it’s about knowing the woman he loves will always be there to catch him.
Dare to Love Kindle World FAQ
What is Kindle Worlds?
Kindle Worlds are collections of shorter stories that “spin off” from bestselling authors’ series. Carly’s series is the Dare to Love series. The stories written in her “world” use settings and characters from her series but are brand new stories and her characters are not heroes and heroines in the new stories. They function as secondary characters (if they appear at all). The characters in these short stories may interact with those characters, or refer to them, or even events from her stories. However, these stories do not continue her stories, do not continue the series, do not use future characters from her series and these characters may or may not appear in her future stories.
Why do you call it KINDLE Worlds? What about those of us that use nook or idevices, etc?
Kindle Worlds were named by Amazon, who developed and now licenses them. They are an Amazon “invention” so yes, these stories are exclusive to Amazon/Kindle. HOWEVER, anyone can download the FREE Kindle app on their phone, ipad, tablet, computer or other device and can then get these stories!
So, are Carly’s books only on Kindle/Amazon?
No. The Kindle World stories, the “spin-off” stories, are the only ones that are Kindle exclusive. You can find all of Carly’s books at all book retailers! More on Carly’s books here: http://www.carlyphillips.com/
Does Carly know you’re doing this and using her stories and character? Isn’t that a copyright infringement or something?
Carly definitely knows all about this! :) She contracted with Amazon to create a Kindle World from her Dare to Love series and she has personally communicated with every author who has written a Kindle World story so far! In fact, she’s read all of the books! She’s very happy to have her Dare world as a Kindle World! :)
Did Carly have any input as to how she wanted the story to go?
Carly is awesome! She really let us do our own thing. There are some “guidelines” we followed and she was great about answering questions AND she read the books when they were done but she was very cool and really wanted our stories to be our own!
If I haven't read any of Carly's Dare to Love series, will I be confused?
No. These stories are all stand alone. But they will be a lot more fun if you’ve read Carly’s Dare to Love books, especially book one and two (Dare to Love and Dare to Desire)
Can they be read as stand alones? Will I be totally lost if I can't read them all?
Yes, they are all stand alone stories and no, you will not be lost at all! You can read in any order and any number of them :) They are more fun if you’ve read Carly Phillips’s Dare to Love series, especially books one and two, but you don’t even have to do that. They’re all fun, sexy short stories all on their own.
Will any characters from your previous books make an appearance in the Kindle world book?
No, the characters you’ll read about are exclusive to this world BUT you will see some characters from Carly Phillips’s books Dare to Love and Dare to Desire and someone from Melanie Shawn’s Kindle World book, Daring Attraction.
Will the characters ever show up in another Erin Nicholas book?
No. The story and the characters are exclusive to this project. These characters are not in any other Erin Nicholas or Carly Phillips books (or anyone else’s books! J ) and they won’t be.
Do you work with the other authors in the Kindle World series to see if your books coincide (or to make sure there aren't double secondary character names)?
Yes and no J We’ve all read each other’s books! The five authors releasing with me (Mari Carr, Cari Quinn, Taryn Elliot, Rhian Cahill and Sami Lee) are friends of mine so there has been a lot of communication.
Will you write any more for the Dare to Love Kindle World series, or is it a one-time deal?
It’s a possibility! I have a lot of other projects that need attention first, but this was a really fun project and I’m so happy I did it!
Are they full length?
No, they are novella length. About half the length of a “regular” novel.
Are they available for pre-order?
Unfortunately (and for reasons we don’t understand) the Kindle World stories are not available for pre-order.
Why are they so expensive?
Amazon sets the price on these books. We have no control over this.
Why can’t people who don’t use Kindles get these books?
The Kindle Worlds (and there are many) are an “invention” of Amazon’s, so they hold all the rights. That means that you have to have a kindle OR a Kindle app (FREE!) on one of your devices!
I’ve heard that people outside of the US can’t get these books, even if they have a Kindle?
This is also a decision Amazon has made that we don’t have control over. Yes, the Kindle Worlds are exclusive to Amazon US… **However** we understand that if you have (or get) a US Amazon account (meaning Amazon.com versus Amazon Canada/Australia/UK etc, you can get these books and our understanding is that anyone can open an Amazon.com account. They may try to redirect you to your home country but you can override that.
We have not confirmed this, but it may be worth looking into.

From a lovely Canadian reader, Marlene, who did some investigative work for us :D
There are 2 ways to do this, one if you have a U.S. kindle address and one if you don't. If you have a US Kindle address you should be able to buy from the US Kindle store.
If you don't-- you can manually switch your Kindle association from the country of registration to the U.S. one, buy the book you want and then switch back to the original country.
Go to settings, in the middle you can see what country you are associated with. Then just a bit above there is a section that tells you what country you can change associations -->> follow that link -->> change to the country of your choice (in her case, she had only had two choices, but others may have more) -->> choose the American site. You'll be transferred, and able to buy the books in the Dare Kindle World! Then do the same process in reverse to get back to the original site for your country.
